Title: "An Open Source Software Framework for DVB-* Transmission".
Andreas Berger and Lorenzo Pallara presented our Open Source software framework used to generate MPEG-2 Transport Streams for transmission of digital TV programs. Due to the framework's modular architecture and its support for a broad variety of recent digital broadcast standards (such as DVB-H), it can be employed for many different prototype implementations and testbed setups in the context of Multimedia research.

Abstract: Mobile TV does not only represents the convergence of broadcast and mobile networks, it also constitutes a new category of multimedia services. This article discusses application scenarios and technical options for realizing interactive Mobile TV as they have been investigated by the AMUSE 2.0 research project. The first part of this article provides an overview of relevant Mobile TV technologies and standards. The second part introduces the research project, focusing on the design and development of an open-source DVB-H/UMTS test platform. This experimental service platform features the integration of broadcast Mobile TV with new web technologies and browser components for Smartphones.
